For the second year running, EastEnders’s red-headed hunk Jake Wood has claimed the title of the nation’s weirdest crush.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, who is currently on hiatus from his role as Max Branning on the soap, said he was “quite honoured” to be “weirdest crush in the history of weird crushes” in the Heat magazine poll.

Comedian Jon Richardson was also honoured with the backhanded compliment as he retained his second place spot.

To ginger Jake’s delight, Ed Sheeran came in third.

“Last year I was delighted, and this year I’m even more bowled over. Lost for words.

“I must be slightly weirder than Ed and that’s a great honour to me. I’m obviously the hottest weirdest ginger,” he told Heat.

Rounding off the top five were IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade and Cuckoo’s Greg Davies.

Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle AKA Jeff Hordley came sixth, Gogglebox’s Dom Parker seventh and Pointless brainbox Richard Osman eighth.

Modern Family dad Ty Burrell squared off against Himesh Patel, better known as Tamwar Masood from EastEnders, for ninth and tenth place.

There were plenty of odd (slash gorgeous, depending on how you look at it) choices in the rest of the list.

Piers Morgan

Jon Snow debuted at number 11 (we reckon his Hotline Bling dance had everything to do with that) while it was an early morning ITV battle for This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes and Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, who took 21st and 22nd place respectively.

Piers’s rival Lord Sugar came in 25th, just pipped by fellow beard-wearer – and Labour leader – Jeremy Corbyn at 24th.

Adam Driver

Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson saw himself tumble to 13 after taking the top spot in 2014, while Star Wars’s Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren, was a new entry at 15.

The full countdown of the nation’s weird crushes can be found in the latest edition of Heat magazine, out now.
