Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt has said she is “excited” to be Capital FM North East’s newest presenter.

The 24-year-old, who appears on the hugely popular Channel 4 show with her mum Betty and dad Mark, will join the Breakfast team on November 30. She will cover regular presenter JoJo’s maternity leave.

In a statement, the TV fan said: “I’m a regular listener to Capital Breakfast and I can’t believe I’m actually going to be presenting the show I wake up to each morning!”

She also took to Twitter to post about this latest string to her bow.

Capital North East’s managing editor Giles Tanner said: “We are delighted to have Scarlett joining the team. She’s a local girl with a love for hit music and showbiz gossip. She has already fitted in with the team and we are all excited about Monday’s show.”

Gogglebox fans will be relieved to hear the County Durham favourite is not leaving the show, as Channel 4 confirmed.

“Scarlett has told us she is covering a short maternity leave. This is a personal job and not related to her appearance on Gogglebox.”

Scarlett’s sharp as a tack observations have been a hit on social media ever since her first appearance in series three.

When Gary Barlow’s tax avoidance scheme was first revealed on BBC News, she said: “This is the only interesting thing I’ve ever heard about him. This is Gary’s idea of being a rebel.”

After watching The Voice: “It’s like a poor man’s X Factor, isn’t it? I like it, but The X Factor s***s all over it.”

And after viewing Martin Freeman’s Labour campaign?

“I’m sorry, but I’m not taking political advice from a hobbit!” she scoffed.

Scarlett’s fans will be able to hear her dulcet tones from Monday-Friday 6-10am on 105-106 Capital FM.
