Ed Sheeran is set to top the charts this weekend with his latest single, according to midweek sales figures.

The singer’s latest record, Thinking Out Loud, should steal the top spot from Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass, becoming his second UK number one.

Figures from the Official Charts Company put The A Team singer 10,000 copies ahead of Meghan.

Taylor Swift is up two places to number three with Shake It Off, while a cover version of Chris Isaak’s Wicked Games by German producer Parra for Cuva featuring Anna Naklab is set to be straight in at number four.

There is more success for Taylor in the album chart where her new release, 1989, is on course to be number one, having sold almost 60,000 copies.

That is more than the rest of the top five – which includes Ed’s X at number two and Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour at number three – combined.

Rock veterans Led Zeppelin are at number four with the reissue of their album IV.

That album, which includes their trademark track Stairway To Heaven, is joined in the top 10 by another of their albums, Houses Of The Holy, at number seven.
