WIDNES Vikings have denied making a move to sign disgraced athlete Dwaine Chambers.
The 30-year-old former Great Britain sprinter, who was banned from the sport for two years in 2003 after testing positive for the designer steroid tetrahydrogestrinone (THG), is without a club after being released by Castleford Tigers last week.
However, Vikings sporting director Terry O'Connor said: "We are currently looking to strengthen our squad for 2008 and are negotiating for 2009, but I can confirm that Dwaine does not feature in any of our plans.
"We are looking to build a squad of young, exciting players a fact which was demonstrated by the performance of our team against Hull yesterday.
"As a club we wish Dwaine well for the future but that future will not be at the Stobart Stadium, Halton."
Chambers, who also had a brief stint playing American football, underwent a six-week trial at Cas following his shock switch to rugby league in March.
