GHOULS, ghosts and a host of other spooky goings-on were out in force last week at Halton Lea Library as part of its Paranormal Week.

More than 100 residents attended the week-long free event, organised by Halton Council and the Merseyside Anomalies Research Association, to see a range of creepy activities including UFO talks, ghost stories and even an experiment to discover whether plants can read minds.

Phillip Cooke, Halton Council's specialist services manager for libraries, said: "People tried their hand at such psychic phenomena as dowsing, ESP and remote viewing.

"The events were, as always, heavily attended, and proved extremely popular and thought-provoking."

MARA is planning to take the event to Widnes later this year.
