Join the dashing Richard Hannay – complete with pencil moustache and British gung-ho – as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing agents and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women in the fast-paced and wickedly funny play The 39 Steps. We have teamed up with the Opera House to promote their competition to give three lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets to the 7.30pm performance of The 39 Steps at the Opera House, Manchester on Monday April 12, 2010.
Maria Aitken’s production contains every legendary scene from the 1935 classic Hitchcock movie thriller, including the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Forth Bridge, the first theatrical bi-plane crash ever staged and the sensational death-defying finale in the London Palladium, as well as the ‘stocking and suspenders scene’ considered controversial at the time of the film’s release.
The 39 Steps is now in its fourth year in the West End, where the show won the Olivier and Whatsonstage Awards for Best Comedy and in New York the Broadway version won two Tony Awards.
