A POPULAR Cheshire animal hospital is holding free canine first aid clinics in Runcorn this month to help teach owners vital life saving techniques for their pets.

Northwest Veterinary Specialists, on Ashville Point, will be holding three evening sessions in Runcorn, which coincide with Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month.

During the sessions, dog owners will learn the principles of first aid, bandaging and common medical emergencies.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to practice CPR and bandaging on animal models, with the support of the nursing team.

“Knowing how to identify and respond in an emergency situation ensures pet owners can be prepared, should the worst happen,” said Tina Wright, head of nursing services at Northwest Veterinary Specialists.

“We’d love to pass on our knowledge to dog owners who think they can benefit from learning some vital techniques while gaining a wider insight into canine welfare.”

The three sessions will take place at Northwest Veterinary Specialists on Wednesday May 8, 15 and 22 from 6.15pm to 8.30pm – and it is free to attend.

Those wishing to attend need to register by visiting the Northwest Veterinary Specialist’s website.
